PSYCHIATRIC NURSE PRACTITIONER
Meet Our Medication Prescriber
Kim Greenwood MS, PMHNP
Kim brings over 20 years of experience as a psychiatric nurse practitioner here in the Tucson area. He earned his degree as a Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner as a graduate of the University of Arizona College of Nursing in 1999. As a licensed Advanced Nurse Practitioner in the State of Arizona, he has served in outpatient, residential and inpatient mental health centers in Tucson and throughout Arizona including rural mental health facilities in southeast Arizona. He has practiced at Sonora Behavioral Health Hospital and Palo Verde Hospital by providing psychiatric evaluations and medication management.
Over the last several years Kim has been involved in treating trauma and substance abuse in adults and adolescents in private practice, acute inpatient facilities, including Palo Verde Hospital and Sonora Behavioral Health Hospital, and residential facilities including Sierra Tucson, Three Springs at Thunder Mountain and Sabino Recovery. Current practice includes medication and alternative therapies for trauma, addictions and general mental health including depression, anxiety, bipolar disorder and ADHD. He is able to prescribe medication for adults and children above the age of five.
In addition to providing medication management and psychiatric evaluations, Kim's alternative approaches to treatment address the mind, body and spirit by incorporating Acupuncture, Reiki, Somatic Experience Therapy and Hypnotherapy. Kim also has a MAT (Medication Assisted Treatment) waiver for buprenorphine to treat Opioid Use Disorder (i.e. heroin, methadone, fentanyl) as a maintenance treatment. His practice is in conjunction with psychologists, therapists, body workers and acupuncture practitioners to develop a holistic treatment plan and tools clients can use on their own to feel more empowered when dealing with stressors in life. Whether you are needing a prescription for depression or anxiety, ADD or OCD, or an alternative way of dealing with stress, Kim will prescribe the necessary treatment to fit your needs.
